THE EMPRESS RECLAIMS HER THRONE

Tiffany stood paralyzed as two burly security guards stepped forward, their heavy boots clicking against the marble floor. The social media starlet who had been arrogantly filming herself minutes ago had completely dissolved, reduced to a shivering mess in a hot pink dress.

“Wait… please!” Tiffany whimpered, her hands trembling as she looked at the crowd of onlookers, all of whom were now watching her public downfall with icy satisfaction. “Katherine—Ms. Hayes, I didn’t know! Mark told me he was the one in charge! He told me he owned this place!”

“Mark owns a title I gave him,” Katherine said, her voice dropping to a dangerous, quiet register that vibrated through the high-ceilinged lobby. “My father built this foundation. I hold the majority shares, the deed to this land, and the power to undo every single lie you’ve both lived by.”

With a sharp nod from Dr. David Chen, the security guards firmly gripped Tiffany’s arms. Her phone, still face-up on the floor, was crushed beneath a guard’s boot as they marched her toward the sliding glass doors. She didn’t scream. She didn’t fight. She was entirely broken, cast out of the sanctuary she had so casually desecrated.

Before the doors could even close behind Tiffany, the private executive elevator chimed.

Mark Thompson stumbled out into the lobby. His expensive silk tie was crooked, his forehead slick with panic, and his breathing ragged. He took one look at the ruined, coffee-stained white suit Katherine wore, and the color completely drained from his face.

“Katherine…” Mark choked out, rushing forward with his hands raised in a desperate plea. “Please, let’s go to the office. We can talk about this privately. It was just a stupid lapse in judgment. I was lonely while you were in Germany, and her father is a major board investor—”

“Stop talking, Mark,” Katherine interrupted. She didn’t shout. The sheer weight of her authority was enough to freeze him in his tracks.

She turned to Henry, the elderly valet, who was watching with a quiet, dignified tear in his eye. “Henry, go to the executive parking garage. Mark’s company-issued vehicle is to be towed immediately. He no longer has clearance to use it.”

Mark’s mouth fell open. “Katherine, you can’t do this! I am the face of Apex University Hospital! The board loves me!”

“The board loves the profit margins and contracts I secure,” Katherine corrected him, stepping close enough that he could smell the bitter coffee on her jacket. “I just finalized the Frankfurt acquisition. The paperwork is entirely in my name. You are a figurehead, Mark. And today, the figurehead has been recalled.”

She looked at Dr. David Chen. “David, call an emergency meeting of the Board of Trustees for 2:00 PM today. The agenda will be the immediate termination of the CEO for gross misconduct and moral turpitude.”

“With pleasure, Katherine,” David replied, a rare, triumphant smile breaking across his face.

Mark looked around the lobby, realizing that every nurse, doctor, and security officer was looking at him not with respect, but with utter contempt. The crown he had worn so proudly had melted away, leaving him completely exposed.

“My lawyer will contact you regarding the divorce,” Katherine concluded, her tone completely devoid of emotion. “You have thirty minutes to clear your things from my father’s old office. After that, security will throw your belongings into the street.”

Without waiting for his response, Katherine picked up her suitcase, squared her shoulders, and walked toward the elevators. The coffee stain on her white suit no longer looked like a mark of humiliation; it looked like a badge of war. Mark had thought he could rule her kingdom in her absence, but he had forgotten one simple rule: never mistake a queen’s silence for weakness.
